Prior to 1999, aging turnouts were causing delivery reliability problems and increased maintenance costs. In December of that year, DEID began an extensive project to renovate farm turnouts serving District water users.
The Renovation Project resulted in installation of a new up-and-over design, with most delivery piping brought above ground. The new turnouts are much more user friendly and accessible.
Also available to DEID water users are "float systems", which provide automatic flow regulation to the turnout. Float systems are provided free of charge.
